Advent Day 24: The Angels Declare His Glory

Can you imagine what it was like to be one of the angels on that night so long ago? After all the anticipation, they received the news that the long-awaited Messiah had finally come. A buzz of excitement must have filled the heavens when they realized they had been chosen to be the first to spread the news. This was the momentous event they had eagerly anticipated their entire existence. This is one of the definitive roles for which they were created—to go down to earth and burst forth in song, lighting up the heavens with their indescribable, divinely reflected glory so that everyone would pay attention. They could hardly contain their excitement as they rushed to take their places in the sky and erupt with joyous praise.

Reflect on the angels’ declaration below and ask God how you can share the good news of Christ’s birth this year with the same excitement.

Luke 2:13–14
Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel,
praising God and saying,
“Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom His favor rests.”
